"I was 345 pounds and in very poor health. I just had my second child and I had many health problems both during the pregnancy and afterwards. I knew from 30 some years of trying that going after another diet was not the answer. So, I decided to have gastric bypass. I have lost 170 pounds by following the plan and working out very consistently. I am very thankful to Dr. Alperovich who performed the surgery and his amazing staff. Each part of their program gives you one more piece to the puzzle. As anyone who has ever dieted knows, keeping the weight off is what really matters. I am so glad I went somewhere that helped me to succeed for the long run."
"After years of sitting on the couch wishing I could participate and be active, I did it. The year 2006 was the year of firsts. 3 5K races, 2 Triathlons, Flying Wheels Century Ride, the 205 mile Seattle to Portland Ride, and the Seattle half marathon (13.1 miles without walking at all). All together I swam more than 35 miles, rode my bike more than 2,500 miles and ran more than 530 miles." Angela
"I weighed 227 lbs., was developing a lot of health issues and starting to take medications. I have a family history of heart problems and was heading down that path myself with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I had been on every diet you can think of and always gained the weight back and then some. I really got scared when I went on my last diet and was actually gaining weight instead of losing it. At that point with the ongoing weight gain and my health continuing to decline I knew I needed to do something and decided to have gastric bypass surgery. I had the surgery April, 2005, have lost 112 lbs. and am no longer on any medications. Now, I am able to fast-walk 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs a day, 5 - 7 days a week and have so much energy."
"For the first time in my life I feel like I am really living and enjoying every day. I can do the simple things without effort like bending down to pick things up, tying my shoes, climbing the stairs, walking and just standing without my whole body hurting or having to rest often as I do things. And just recently I was excited to find that I could wear heels again. Not just your basic heels, but cute, sexy heels that I have been unable to wear for years. I am so thankful I found Dr. Alperovich, his wonderful team and the excellent program they have, all of which has helped me to be successful in my journey." Gayle
"Two years earlier I had given it my all with a personal trainer three times a week and made a serious effort to eat right but much to my dismay, I lost only about 10 pounds. I knew that I did not want to spend my 30th birthday being fat. In the 10 years since high school I had managed to put 60 additional pounds on an already overweight frame. At 5'7" I was 247 pounds and had a BMI of 38. In August of 2003 I underwent a roux-en-y gastric bypass and it by far has been the best decision I have ever made. The next year would prove to be difficult but I would do it over again in a heartbeat. The weight just melted off for the first time ever. On my one year anniversary after gastric bypass I had reached my goal weight and had managed to lose 100% of my excess body weight. And now three years later I have maintained my 107 pound loss! Looking back, I am convinced this was the journey I needed to overcome my struggle with obesity. Weight loss surgery was the tool that worked for me and it helps me maintain long-term weight loss success. I have finally learned that I eat to live and I am not living to eat." Michaela
