The Medical Director of the Los Angeles Center is Dr. Davtyan, a prominent and respected surgeon in the greater Los Angeles community. He specializes in LAP-BAND surgery and is also a LAP-BAND patient himself, which gives him a very unique understanding of the challenges of being overweight and what its like to overcome it with the help of the LAP-BAND.

Although Dr. Davtyan originally specialized in oncology, he is now singularly focused on helping people achieve their weight-loss goals with the safest, least invasive weight-loss surgery available: The LAP-BAND System. Dr. Davtyan was one of the first surgeons to perform the LAP-BAND procedure in the U.S. upon its approval by the FDA in 2001.

He graduated from UCLA Medical School in 1989 and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Bariatric Medicine. He currently sits on the Editorial Advisory Board for Obesity Help Magazine, a highly regarded publication offering support and education to the millions of people suffering from obesity. He has also written and published several LAP-BAND-related articles for various medical journals.
