David Voellinger, MD, FACS, earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He received his fellowship training in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and has received advanced training in the Lap-Band System.
Dr. Voellinger is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and was the first surgeon in the Charlotte area to perform Lap-Band System surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Voellinger has helped improve the lives of hundreds of bariatric patients. He is a proctor for the Lap-Band System and is responsible for training surgeons interested in the procedure. Dr. Voellinger is a participant in a multi-center clinical trial regarding the Lap-Band clinical experience and is a member of the Council for Advances in Bariatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons.
