He routinely lectures throughout the nation and recently was invited to demonstrate his technique of duodenal switch in a live telesurgery format for the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Husted is frequently consulted on local television programs and was the featured surgeon for two Discovery Channel weight loss surgery specials, "Escaping Obesity - Kathy's Story" and "Big John," which focused on adolescent obesity.

More About John Husted, MD

John Husted, MD, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his internship and residency at the University of California, San Francisco and at the University of Arizona. Dr. Husted is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity. He serves as the physician advisor for the Walk from Obesity and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Surgery. At Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Dr. Husted served as medical director and co-founder of the Metabolic Surgery Center as well as medical director for Bariatric Services.
