Rhinoplasty is an advanced surgical procedure that changes the appearance of a person's nose. It is a complex and delicate surgery that requires the advanced skills of an experienced plastic surgeon. Depending on the aesthetic goals of each patient, Richmond rhinoplasty providers can perform closed or open rhinoplasty. Using the closed method, the Richmond surgeon makes small incisions on the inside of the nose and uses small surgical tools to reshape the nose by altering and removing bone, cartilage and soft tissue. Many patients prefer the closed approach because it requires minimal recovery time and leaves no visible scars. However, not all patients qualify for closed rhinoplasty because this type of procedure is more appropriate for minor and purely cosmetic concerns, such as reshaping the tip of the nose or removing a nasal bump.
During an initial consultation, your Richmond plastic surgery provider will examine your nose and ask you to discuss your aesthetic goals. Based on this information, the surgeon will recommend either the open or closed procedure and will inform you of the nose surgery cost.
Prior to surgery, rhinoplasty patients should meet with a Richmond plastic surgeon to review their credentials and ensure they are endorsed by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Richmond nose surgeons who are board-certified face plastic surgery experts have met the highest medical and safety standards. In order to become certified, they must complete a medical degree at an accredited school and have a state license to practice medicine. In addition, they must complete three years in an approved general surgery residency and two years in an approved plastic surgery residency. After six months of practice, the surgeons submit before and after pictures of their rhinoplasty, facelift, eyelid surgery and other facial cosmetic surgery patients to a panel of expert judges for approval. Finally, they must pass several written and oral exams to obtain certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
If a Richmond patient is undergoing rhinoplasty merely for cosmetic purposes, the procedure will not be paid for by health insurance. However, in cases where rhinoplasty is being used for reconstructive surgery or medical purposes, part of the cost of the procedure may be covered by health insurance. A private consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help patients better understand their payment options and whether their nose surgery procedure may be covered by insurance.
Patients who travel to Richmond for rhinoplasty will be pleased to find all the conveniences of a modern city as well as numerous historical and entertainment options. In addition, they will be delighted by the thriving arts and culture scene in Richmond. The city boasts its own symphony and ballet as well as eight performances by the Virginal Opera every year. It is also home to several notable art galleries, including the Metro Space Gallery, Quirk Gallery and Gallery5, which describes itself as "a community oriented, socially motivated art gallery and performing art center." Visitors to Richmond will also find a wealth of art and culture in the city's museums, such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Edgar Allan Poe.
Besides rhinoplasty, Richmond plastic surgeons offer addition facial plastic surgery procedures. They are highly skilled Richmond facelift, eyelid lift and brow lift surgeons who are also often consulted regarding laser hair removal cost and Latisse cost. In addition, they are renowned providers of body lift, butt implants and liposuction Richmond patients rely on for their body sculpting needs. Richmond patients are often so pleased with their facial and body makeovers that they pursue additional cosmetic enhancements. Some visit a local cosmetic dentist to improve their smile and/or oral health with teeth whitening, dental implants or bad breath treatment, while others consult a Richmond eye surgeon regarding LASIK eye surgery in order to do away with their glasses or contact lenses.
