Advancements in liposuction surgery have made this cosmetic surgery procedure less invasive and more effective. The procedure is designed to remove pockets of excess fat in certain areas of the body, such as the thighs, hips, arms and face. It has become highly popular in West Palm Beach, and is one of the most widely performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the Palm Beach area and across the US.
During the procedure, a Palm Beach liposuction surgeon will make incisions in the skin in areas close to the fatty deposits. A device is then inserted under the skin and scraped along the fatty deposits, loosening the fatty tissue and then removing it through suction. Tumescent liposuction is the most popular form of the procedure. During tumescent lipo, an injection containing a numbing agent and a blood vessel constricting agent is made into the fatty deposits. This injection loosens the fatty deposits more than during standard liposuction and the blood vessel constricting agent provides for less fluid loss during the procedure. The result is that smaller incisions can be used and there is a more rapid recovery time.
The best candidates for liposuction in Palm Beach are those in relatively good health who have been unable to remove the fatty deposits through changes in lifestyle. It is not a type of bariatric surgery, such as gastric bypass or gastric banding. Liposuction could be used as part of a combination of procedures that are performed after a patient has lost a lot of weight.
The liposuction procedure is also used for mothers after they have finished child bearing and want to recapture their pre-pregnancy figures. When combined with a tummy tuck and breast augmentation in Palm Beach, the combination procedure is called a mommy makeover. A tummy tuck, like liposuction, is used to remove excess fat, but for a tummy tuck West Palm Beach procedure, excess skin and fat are cut away during surgery and not sucked out of the fatty areas.
West Palm Beach has many highly qualified board-certified plastic surgeons. It is best to consult a plastic surgeon when considering lipoplasty. He or she can answer your questions about surgery cost, risks and recovery time. Also, the top surgeons will provide before and after photos of previous patients so that you can see examples of results. For those patients visiting Palm Beach from out of town, the Palm Beach International Airport provides easy access to the city. It is an easy drive or cab ride to the major shopping areas, the Intracoastal Canal and the plastic surgery offices.
