Robert A. Young, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has served the St. Louis area for more than two decades. Dr. Young formerly served as a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He is committed to providing quality care with a personalized touch to help his patients feel as comfortable as possible throughout their procedure. In addition to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Young performs an array of reconstructive procedures such as breast reconstruction for patients who have undergone mastectomy. Dr. Young specializes in breast surgery and body contouring. Breast procedures provided by Dr. Young include breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), breast reduction and breast reconstruction. He uses techniques such as expansion, Alloderm (acellular dermal allograft), TRAM flaps and latissimus dorsi flaps for breast reconstruction. He offers a variety of body contouring procedures, including excisional procedures such as abdominoplasty, and for liposuction uses the Sciton TempAssure laser, which is the first device available that measures internal temperature during laser liposuction to increase the safety and efficacy of the procedure. In addition, he provides body contouring solutions for patients who have lost a substantial amount of weight due to bariatric surgery, including an advanced procedure called torsoplasty, which removes excess sagging skin from the abdomen, back and buttocks.

Dr. Young remains on the leading edge of plastic surgery technology by utilizing advanced lasers to treat red spots, age spots, scars, wrinkles, unwanted hair and provide skin tightening. He also uses fractional resurfacing in conjunction with microlaser peels to provide patients with faster healing times and less down time than previous laser procedures.

Dr. Young feels strongly that cosmetic surgery must be individualized to each patient's unique needs. In order to help patients better understand the complexities of their procedures, and to ascertain whether they qualify for certain cosmetic surgery procedures, Dr. Young offers personal consultations. Robert A. Young, MD, FACS, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from The Ohio State University. In addition, he holds a Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University. Dr. Young completed general and plastic surgery residencies at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he served as Chief Resident his final year.

Dr. Young has gained a reputation as one of the leading plastic surgeons in St. Louis.
