Dr. Spenler is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and has been practicing in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive medicine for more than 20 years. He specializes in post-bariatric surgery and ultrasonic assisted liposuction for patients seeking body contouring after massive weight loss. Dr. Newman holds extensive training in all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body. He trained under the mentorship of internationally recognized plastic surgeons, during which time he was honored with numerous awards for his academic excellence and outstanding surgical skills. Dr. Jewell specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery as well as microsurgery. More About the Surgeons of South Bay Plastic Surgeons

Charles W. Spenler, MD, completed his undergraduate degree at Wesleyan College in Iowa and his medical education at the University of Iowa School of Medicine. He served his surgical residency at the Los Angeles County Harbor General Hospital, an affiliate of the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Spenler completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, as well as a fellowship in aesthetic surgery of the face under the mentorship of the distinguished surgeon Dr. Bruce F. Connell. Over the course of his prolific career spanning more than two decades, Dr. Spenler has served as a medical provider and educator at numerous healthcare centers and educational institutions. He has participated in many research projects and authored countless published articles. Dr. Spenler is board certified in general and plastic surgery as well as emergency medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a proud member of many professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Medical Association, the American Burn Association and the Los Angeles Medical Association.

Michael Newman, MD, obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served a six-year residency in general and plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University). He then completed fellowship training at Georgetown University Hospital under the mentorship of renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeons. Dr. Newman specializes in all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has participated in many research projects and his work has been published in major medical journals. Dr. Newman is affiliated with several professional organizations.

Lisa Jewell, MD, earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis, and her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. She served her medical internship as well as her general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residencies at the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. Jewell specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. She has participated in several research projects and has lectured on breast surgery and wound healing related topics. Dr. Jewell holds surgical privileges at numerous medical centers in the area, including St. John’s Health Center, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and Little Company of Mary Hospital. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
