"One year ago, I got brave and had Dr. Peters do an abdominoplasty at the same time my gynecologist was doing a hysterectomy. It worked out so well and I am so happy that I did it! I am a conservative mother/grandmother and a nurse. I just turned 50 and I look and feel better than ever. My life has changed! Since the surgery, I have lost 30 lbs (Weight watchers and the gym) and this is a big component of how good I look and feel. I ask myself: why wasn't I able to lose weight before the surgery? Dr. Peters was careful to counsel me that weight loss is not a reason for surgery and actually I weighed close to same before surgery as after, so don't go into it thinking it is a magic bullet. It still has taken discipline and great effort on my part, but I think having the surgery helped because I had new motivation and energy and I wasn't battling that big blob of a belly. It gave me the possibility of restoring my body to match the image in my head of how I wanted to look. I could never get used to the idea of me looking 6 months pregnant year-round, year after year! I now have a flat stomach with abdominal muscles aligned... and did I mention how much I LOVE my new belly button? It's beautiful! Lastly, I want to address my pre-surgery concern of having such a large scar. One year later, I can tell you I am pleasantly surprised... the scar is fading so nicely. Dr Peters did a beautiful job and I can't imagine NOT doing it because of this worry. The scar has been a non-issue for me. Dr. Peters and her staff took good care of me and I am ecstatic with my results." Cynthia
