Dr. Palma is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only official body authorized to certify fully trained plastic surgeons, and has been practicing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for over 25 years. After graduating from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, with an M.D. degree, Dr. Palma served his general surgery internship and residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He went on to complete his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center in California. His training included fellowships in head and neck cancer surgery at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York, and a plastic surgery fellowship in Calgary, Canada.

He is a member of the medical staff at multiple local hospitals and has served as Chief of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at North Ridge Medical Center and various other hospitals in Fort Lauderdale.

In 1996 Dr. Palma opened the Sunrise Intracoastal Plastic Surgery Center (SIPSC), which is fully accredited by the AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities, Inc). He remains its Medical Director and on-staff plastic surgeon. The facility also features a mini medi-spa that offers medically supervised skin care and rejuvenation services by a full-time medical aesthetician.

SIPSC is a stand-alone, state-of-the-art surgery center, as well as a full-service skin care and cosmetic laser center. We offer private and public entrances as well as ample free parking. Our facility has been designed to offer you post-surgical overnight care, if required, in a comfortable setting to make you feel at home, which also ensures privacy, anonymity, and one-to-one custodial care.

Dr. Palma's current private practice focuses on aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. In addition to traditional surgery for reshaping and rejuvenating the face, nose, neck, eyelids, and breasts, he is very enthusiastic about all new techniques and refinements related to cosmetic surgery, including ultrasound liposuction technology, "no visible scar" surgery for eyelids, breast implants and chemical peels.

In addition to his surgical skills and experience, Dr. Palma is considered an expert in cosmetic medicine (non-surgical procedures to make patients look younger). He is one of the most experienced users of paralyzing agents, such as Botox or Dysport, and dermal fillers/volumizers, such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra and other FDA approved products.

As of May, 2009, Dr. Palma has been approved as a Principal Investigator by the FDA to insert the "Ideal Implant," a new type of saline-filled breast implant that offers the first truly innovative new technology in over 20 years. He is one of only a handful of surgeons in the USA approved to insert these new implants.

Dr. Palma is an experienced and skillful cosmetic surgeon who has a well-deserved reputation as one of the top plastic surgeons in Florida. He has been chosen for three consecutive years by his fellow physicians as one of the "Best Doctors in South Florida." He is listed in Castle Connolly's list of "America's Top Doctors," as well as Consumers' Research Council of America's "Guide to America's Top Surgeons."

Dr. Palma is a volunteer surgeon and has been on the board of directors of Interplast, a nonprofit organization that provides free plastic and reconstructive surgery to under-privileged patients, mostly children, in developing countries. He is currently a member of multiple national and local organizations, including the prestigious American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
