More About Richard Ellenbogen, MD, FACS, FICS

Richard Ellenbogen, MD, FACS, FICS received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida with Honors before earning his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami, School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Ellenbogen participated in a select surgical internship program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He remained at the Bronx-based medical school for the first year of a general surgery residency before completing his second and third years at Beth Israel Medical Center. In effort to satisfy an interest in plastic surgical correction of birth defects, Dr. Ellenbogen later traveled to The Hague, Netherlands, where he served a fellowship at the Red Cross Hospital.

After returning to the United States, he completed a hand surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Ellenbogens plastic surgery training culminated with a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the Nassau County Medical Center of State University of New York. He is widely respected by his peers and the consumer media and is routinely invited to speak at various plastic surgery seminars and symposiums. He is currently volunteering some of his time in Mexico where he is helping to raise funding and support for the Hospital de la Fe in San Miguel de Allende.

Dr. Ellenbogen is a member of a number of professional medical societies, including the American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Medical Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also a select member of the prestigious Rhinoplasty Society. He speaks English, Dutch and Spanish.
