Dr. Wayne Carman is a board-certified plastic surgeon accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. During his 25-year career, Dr. Carman has gained a broad experience in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. The surgical techniques and refinements that allow cosmetic plastic surgery to be performed safely and efficiently have their origins in the treatment of congenital defects and trauma patients. His experience in all aspects of plastic surgery is a valuable asset when performing surgery for patients wishing to have cosmetic improvement.

Dr. Carman's exclusive private clinic, the Cosmetic Surgery Institute was custom designed for the unique needs of cosmetic plastic surgery patients. The clinic is fully accredited by the Canadian Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Care Facilities (CAAACF), ensuring the highest standard of care. Procedures may be performed under either local or general anaesthesia and can be arranged as day surgery or with an overnight stay. The clinic is dedicated to the comfort, safety and privacy of our cosmetic surgery patients.

Dr. Carman has a very "hands on" style of practice and personally consults with each patient. He listens to their goals, hopes, concerns and fears and formulates a surgical plan that will provide the most successful outcome with the least risk.

Following the consultation, Dr. Carman explains the reasons for his decision and outlines the details of the surgical experience. If surgery is not the best idea to correct a problem, Dr. Carman will make non-operative recommendations. If a patient seeks a surgical procedure which he feels is not appropriate, he will explain how he arrived at his decision and suggest alternative ideas. All surgical planning is made with the patients' best interest in mind.

More About Dr. Carman

After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Victoria College at the University of Toronto, Dr. Carman undertook his medical training at the University of Toronto, School of Medicine. His surgical residency years, also at the University of Toronto, included extra time devoted to clinical research which led to a Master of Science degree from the Institute of Medical Science.

Following the successful completion of his Fellowship examination, Dr. Carman travelled abroad, working as a Clinical Fellow and gaining valuable experience and perspective in Copenhagen and London. His return to Toronto saw him undertake additional fellowship positions in trauma as well as cosmetic surgery before establishing his private practice.

Continuing medical education and professional development have always been priorities for Dr. Carman. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Ontario Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Canadian Laser Aesthetic Surgical Society. He is a member of the executive of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgery and the Canadian Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Care Facilities.

Dr. Carman's experience and insight result in frequent requests from the media for his opinion. He is often asked to provide input on topical issues in plastic surgery to newspaper, radio and television reporters. Recent media appearances include CBC television, TVO, CBC radio, the Toronto Star, radio 640 and the Life Network.
