Dr. Steve Byrd graduated with Honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas in 1972. He completed his general surgery internship at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and his plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Distinguished as having held a number of professional teaching appointments at several renowned Universities, Dr. Byrd was appointed as Co-Chairman to the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center following his plastic surgery residency. He has also served as Chief of Service at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and currently serves as the Director of Plastic Surgery at Children's Medical Center.

Noted for his commitment to continually participating in a number of professional medical societies, Dr. Byrd is a celebrated member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Cleft Palate Association, the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Dallas County Medical Society. In addition, Dr. Byrd is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
