Michael S. Beckenstein, MD, FACS, FICS, is a renowned plastic surgeon who is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a distinction held by few plastic surgeons. In addition, Dr. Beckenstein has advanced fellowship training in breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Beckenstein has trained under world-renowned plastic surgeons, Dr. Scott L. Spear, Dr. Carl Hartrampf, Jr., and Dr. James C. Grotting. As a testament to his surgical expertise, Dr. Beckenstein has received several prominent awards, including admission into the Alpha Omega Alpha Society, the American Medical Association's "Physicians Choice Award," the Sandoz Pharmacology Award, the Achievement Award for Academic Excellence in Surgery and the Herbert Schulte Award for Excellence in Surgery. In addition, he is a recipient of the American Cancer Society's "Lifesaver Award" and was named one of "America's Top Surgeons" by the Consumers' Research Council of America, and one of the "Best of Birmingham" physicians and surgeons in 2008.

Dr. Beckenstein performs a variety of cosmetic procedures for the body and breast, including liposuction, tummy tuck and breast augmentation. In addition, he offers breast lift, breast reconstruction and post-weight loss surgery to patients left with excess skin after losing significant amounts of weight. More About Michael S. Beckenstein, MD, FACS, FICS

Michael S. Beckenstein, MD, FACS, FICS, completed an undergraduate degree at Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He then performed a general surgery internship and residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, and a plastic surgery residency and research fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Dr. Beckenstein also performed a breast reconstruction fellowship at Atlanta Plastic Surgery PA, and an aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction fellowship at Georgetown University Medical Center. He completed a third fellowship in aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction under world renowned surgeons in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Beckenstein has written several published journal articles and textbook chapters, and has been invited to lecture to a variety of organizations. He also holds several patents and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the International Society of Ultrasonic Surgery and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, he serves as an advisor to the Rashel Foundation.
