Nose reshaping surgery is medically known as rhinoplasty, but in slang it is often referred to as a "nose job." Indianapolis rhinoplasty surgeons can perform the procedure for purely cosmetic purposes or for medical reasons to clear a blocked nasal passage. During the procedure, an incision is made to separate the skin of the nose from the underlying cartilage. The skin is pulled back and changes are made to the cartilage and other tissues to reshape the nose. The skin is then returned to its original location and sutured in place. This procedure can make the nose more streamlined, reduce the overall size of the nose, change the slope of the nose or modify the nasal tip. Since the nose is the most prominent facial feature, rhinoplasty can significantly change a patient's overall appearance and improve self confidence. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon can help to determine the best course of action to reshape the nose. It is best to review the before and after photos and discuss with the surgeon the various potential changes to the nose size and shape. These plastic surgeons may also offer other types of face, body and breast cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, such as face lift and breast reduction surgery. Certain types of less invasive facial procedures can accent a newly shaped nose, such as collagen injections or laser skin resurfacing.
As the namesake and memorial place of an infamous United States Navy ship, Indianapolis is a great place for rhinoplasty for the World War II enthusiast. The USS Indianapolis was a Portland-class cruiser of the United States Navy, commissioned in the 1930s. She served as a flagship during her peacetime career, entertaining President Roosevelt twice. Upon the entrance of the United States into World War II following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Indianapolis served as cover and support for many South Pacific operations. In fact it was in the South Pacific, specifically the Philippine Sea, where she met her demise at the hand of a Japanese submarine and became the worst single loss of life at-sea in naval history. The Indianapolis is also the last major Navy ship sunk by enemy action in World War II, making it one of the most famous ships of the period. Visitors to Indianapolis can see the National Memorial to the ship on the Canal Walk.
Indianapolis rhinoplasty patients often seek other types of enhancement procedures to improve their appearance and life styles. LASIK surgery is a common life enhancing procedure and can be used to eliminate the dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Indianapolis LASIK patients appreciate this new found freedom. A facelift in Indianapolis can tighten the facial muscles and create a rejuvenated facial profile. Many plastic surgeons offer breast procedures and they often have top notch breast augmentation Indianapolis surgical facilities.
