The University of Maryland's Division of Plastic Surgery is a leading facility for reconstructive plastic surgery. The division's team of experts is focused on restoring and improving the body's natural form and function.

The nationally recognized specialists at the University of Maryland perform a variety of procedures, including facial and nasal reconstruction, skin cancer resection, burn reconstruction, complex wound management, general reconstructive surgery, as well as facial and breast cosmetic surgery. They also offer facial trauma reconstruction, a variety of hand surgeries such as carpal tunnel release and pediatric plastic surgery, including cleft lip and palate procedures.

The team is led by Dr. Ronald P. Silverman, Associate Professor of Surgery and the Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Silverman maintains a clinical and research interest in skin cancer resection and facial/nasal reconstruction, and is currently involved in research projects focused on tissue engineering for reconstructive surgery. He is also a member of the Kernan Hospital Cleft Lip and Palate team.
