Chick Lit. 101

Here's the Goddess Gossip scoop on four page - turners you can tear through between carpools and after-school activities this fall:

January is the time to make resolutions about what you will do more or less of in the coming year. Sticking to them, however, is often another story. Instead of setting yourself up to fail, resolve to win by adding these five Goddess Gossip-approved, easy-to-stick-with beauty hacks to your routine.

All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner
The latest novel from the author of such chick-lit classics as "Good in Bed" and "In Her Shoes" takes on the pain-killer-addiction epidemic gripping our nation. It's a cautionary tale of a woman who seems to have it all – handsome husband, solid career, adorable daughter – and yet, behind the scenes, is increasingly dependent on pain killers to get through her days. In the end, it's a tale of hope and healing. As with all Weiner's novels, there's a little laughter sprinkled throughout.

One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
If you haven't read Moyes' Me Before You, by all means, start there. That said, the latest is an enjoyable, engrossing and easy read. It details a down-but-not-out single mom's struggle to provide for her family. It's not a predictable romance novel, but the characters do resonate and in the end, love conquers all.

Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Headier than Weiner and Moyes' summer selections, Tartt's Goldfinch is also enchanting. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an explosion that kills his mother, and as a result covets a painting that ultimately draws him into the dangerous underworld of art and espionage. Read it even if you were less than thrilled with Tartt's opus, The Secret History. Goldfinch even scored the 2014 Pulitzer Prize!

The Vacationers by Emma Straub
You can finish this one in an afternoon, and if you have ever had a really bad vacation despite the amount of planning, effort and expectations involved, you will be able to relate. The Post family and all its warts are slowly exposed during their two-week sojourn on the Spanish island of Mallorca. It's gritty and real – even against the idyllic backdrop.

IN: patched or quilted jeans. Whether boyfriend or skinny jean styles, every denim maker, from Ralph Lauren and Current Elliot to H & M, is in on this trend. If you buy one pair of jeans this season, go patched!

Will insurance ever pay for eyelid surgery?

Insurance does not pay for procedures considered purely cosmetic, but if the surgery is to correct a drooping eyelid that affects your vision, your insurance may cover some or all of the cost. Make sure you know what's covered before you schedule your surgery.

Un-tattoo You

As many as one-third of people regret their tattoos. Perhaps it's a constant reminder of a relationship gone sour, or maybe it's a symbol a past better left in the past. Either way, there are options. Learn about laser tattoo removal here:
